Shell station closes, Texaco becomes Shell

CARROLLWOOD - You may have noticed that a once-thriving Shell gas station at Ehrlich Road and West Village Drive is shut down and boarded up.

Right next door, a former Texaco gas station on Ehrlich Road in front of Kash n' Karry has become a Shell station.

Motiva Enterprises, the same company that owns the Shell station at West Village and Ehrlich, bought the former Texaco station at 5368 Ehrlich Road. Rather than run two stations side-by-side, the company is selling the one at 5252 Ehrlich Road.

"Its closure was a normal part of Motiva's portfolio management of its assets," said Karyn Leonardi-Cattolica, a spokeswoman for the Houston company. "It was a nonstrategic site."

Leonardi-Cattolica said the property will be sold to another gas station company.
