ZEPHYRHILLS - Two candidates running for City Council seats did not vote in last year's city election, records show.

Gina King, a candidate for Seat 4, said she did not vote in last April's Zephyrhills City Council race because she was out of town on business.

"Had I known I was going to be out of town, I would have voted absentee," she said.

King said she was not aware of the option to vote before election day at City Hall.

"I really could have voted last year had I known that. But I didn't," she said.

King, 33, lived in Hillsborough County from 1994 until 2002. She voted there twice, in the 1996 presidential race and the 2000 general election, according to Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections records. She never voted in a local Tampa race or in any primaries, though King said during some of that time she did not live within the Tampa city limits.

Regarding her voting history in Hillsborough, King said her job with GTE, now Verizon, took her out of town frequently.

"Several years ago I traveled to Dallas every week," she said. "I would leave on Sunday and come back on Thursday night. I was kind of out of touch with current events."

King voted most recently in the March 9 county sales tax referendum and in the primary and general elections in 2002.

Rj Morgan, 65, running for Seat 2, also did not vote in last April's municipal race.

But according to the Pasco County Supervisor of Elections, he has voted a total of seven times in Pasco since 2000, including in two earlier city races.

Asked Thursday about his voting record, Morgan had little to say.

"I don't know. I vote," he said, and declined to comment further.

San Antonio candidate has voted once, records show

Justin Adams, a first-time candidate for San Antonio City Commission, voted in last month's county tax referendum but in no other election in Pasco before that, records show.

According to elections office records, Adams, who registered to vote in May 2001, has no voting history before the March 9 referendum.

Adams, 24, was out of town Thursday and could not be reached for comment.
