Dade City fire station sale price on board's agenda

DADE CITY - Aiming to complete an agreement the city made with Pasco County last year, Dade City Commissioners are set to discuss next week the sale price of the city's fire station.

This past summer, the city eliminated its fire department in a cost-cutting move and hired Pasco County to provide the service. At the time, the deal was crafted to include the sale of the downtown fire station on Fourth Street for about $570,000, provided an appraisal coincided with the proposed sale price.

City Manager Harold Sample wrote in a memo to commissioners this week that one appraisal set the station's value at about $500,000. Placing the item on the agenda for Tuesday's Commission meeting, Sample told commissioners they could ask for another appraisal before negotiating the final price with the county.
