SAFETY HARBOR - Pinellas sheriff's deputies arrested a woman Tuesday on a child neglect charge because she allowed her two children to skip school, arrest reports state.

The two children have missed a combined 119 days of school, 79 of them unexcused, reports state. Donna S. Manning, 40, was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on Tuesday on a misdemeanor child neglect charge. She posted $500 bail and was released.

The ages and genders of her children were not available Wednesday. When deputies arrived at her home to arrest her, Manning hid in a closet and told one of the children to lie to the deputy about her whereabouts, according to the report.
