Top 5 movies

By Times Staff
Published April 15, 2004

1. Kill Bill, Volume 2 - Uma Thurman continues her vengeance in a film so different from Vol. 1 that's hard to believe they were once combined in one movie.

2. Connie and Carla - Nia Vardalas (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) creates a Some Like It Hot-style comedy that's anything but a drag.

3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Another mind-bender from screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation); this one stars Jim Carrey as a jilted lover having romance wiped from his memory.

4. Dawn of the Dead - Any remake surpassing the original is rare, but this update of George A. Romero's 1978 film does it with more gore, humor and economy of storytelling.

5. The Punisher - Movies with C-plus reviews don't usually make this list. But most movies aren't made in the Tampa Bay area.
