Northeast knocks off district leader

Scot Moeller fired a four-hitter and allowed no earned runs as the visiting Vikings (14-8) beat district-leading Seminole (17-4) on Tuesday.

The win kept the Vikings in third place in Class 5A, District 10. Northeast has won eight of its last 10 games and has scored 93 runs in its last nine.

"Moeller's been our go-to guy for four years now," Northeast coach Roman Johnson said. "He got ahead of them and never and never let down."

Joey Tribue led the Vikings offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, and Jacob Ralston added a triple.

TAMPA PREP 10, ADM. FARRAGUT 6: Tampa Prep remained in a three-way tie for first in the Bay Conference and in Class A, District 11 by beating Admiral Farragut (9-12).

The host Terrapins (14-9) scored one run in each of the first four innings and blew the game open with six in the fifth. Brad Buchman started the scoring in the first with a double into deep center that scored Dylan Johnson for the first run. Buchman added another double later.

J.P. Goldsberry went six innings and allowed one run for Tampa Prep. Johnson went 2-for-3 for Tampa Prep and Craig Federer 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

The Terrapins share first place with Northside Christian and Shorecrest.
