Injuries keep two out of Baltimore's lineup

BALTIMORE - Jay Gibbons and David Segui were held out of the Orioles starting lineup Tuesday night with minor injuries.

Gibbons had a strained lower back and Segui was nursing a throbbing knee. Both are day to day.

Gibbons' absence also could have been attributed to his 1-for-16 lifetime performance against Devil Rays starter Mark Hendrickson.

"I think it's a combination," Gibbons said. "I'm just having trouble getting my back loose. I didn't say I couldn't play, but the lineup's up and I'm not in it."

Segui was in the starting lineup before being scratched about 21/2 hours before gametime.

"His knee is just a little sore from the turf (in Toronto)," Orioles manager Lee Mazzilli said. "I'm just going to give him a day off."
