BROOKSVILLE - Four drug dealing suspects are in custody as part of a combined effort targeting the street-level narcotics trade in south Brooksville and other areas.
Detectives from the Sheriff's Office and the Brooksville Police Department arrested 23-year-old twin brothers Brandon S. Inman and Derrick D. Inman, of Brooksville, Calvin Lee Howard, 22, of Brooksville and Brosnan Johnson, 19, of Spring Hill on Thursday.
They were charged with a range of offenses, including the sale and possession of crack cocaine, and remained in custody at Hernando County Jail on Friday, court records show.
The arrests are part of stepped up efforts by the task force to curb street-level drug trafficking and other crime in south Brooksville, including the area along E Jefferson and Broad streets.
In March, task force officers arrested 13 people and issued more than 50 traffic citations during their first operation.
As part of the investigation that led to the four arrests, in January authorities began conducting undercover operations at several locations throughout Hernando County, including areas in south Brooksville and Spring Hill, according to the arrest reports.
Officers used unmarked vehicles, electronic monitoring devices and video surveillance equipment to purchase 3.7 grams of crack cocaine from the suspects, who arranged to meet with the undercover operatives in front of a liquor store and convenience store on E Jefferson Street, and a fast-food restaurant on Spring Hill Drive, the reports stated.
The crack cocaine was placed into evidence and later sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement laboratory to confirm the identification.
