TARPON SPRINGS - A 50-year-old Largo man was killed and another man injured in a boating accident on Lake Tarpon on Saturday, authorities said.

Isaac W. Henry was killed and 21-year-old Chaison W. Dyer of Tarpon Springs received a deep laceration on his arm when the men lost control of an 18-foot bass boat about 6:45 p.m., said sheriff's Sgt. Tim Goodman.

The two men borrowed the boat from Robert A. Phillips of Palm Harbor and planned a fishing trip on Lake Tarpon, Goodman said. They left the boat ramp at Anderson Park and traveled east on the lake at 30 to 35 mph, Goodman said.

The boat made a sudden sharp turn, throwing the men off the boat, Goodman said. The boat continued moving at high speed, eventually striking two docks before stopping, Goodman said.

Another boater, Blake McCollom of New Port Richey, pulled the men from the lake. Henry died on scene from unknown causes. Dyer was taken to Bayfront Medical Center; his condition was unknown late Saturday, Goodman said.

It was unclear Saturday how the two men suffered their injuries.

An investigation into the crash continues.
