Xpress, the Coolest Section of the St. Petersburg Times, is the home for features, news and views of interest to young readers. Most of the work in Xpress, which appears on Mondays in Floridian, is produced by the Times' X-Team. The team of journalists ages 9-17 from around the Tampa Bay area is selected every year at the end of the school year to serve during the following school term. The current team of 12 was chosen out of 150 applicants. Watch for X-Team application forms in Xpress during the month of May.

So you still may be too young to have a car or can't afford one. In Pinellas County, that won't stop you this summer if you have the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority's Haul Pass. From May 15 to Aug. 15, anyone age 18 and younger can get unlimited rides on any regular PSTA bus or trolley route within Pinellas County for $25. Middle and high school students ages 11-18 also need to have a PSTA-issued student photo identification that must be presented to ride the bus. The ID card is $2.50 and can be used whether you buy the Haul Pass or just ride for the regular student rate of 75 cents. To receive the card and pass, just show proof that you are a student in a Pinellas County school. The Haul Pass will be available beginning this month at all terminals, ticket outlets and through PSTA's Tickets by Mail program. Maybe your mom, dad or grandparents have regaled you with tales of setting up a lemonade stand in front of their home and selling the sweet-tart, cool liquid to passers-by on summer days. Well, don't let them have all the fun. You can do it and help others in the process. And Sunkist will assist with a free lemonade stand when kids ages 7-12 visit its Web site to explain why they are "taking a stand" for charity. Here's how it works: With your parents' permission, go to www.sunkist.com and share your story in 100 words or more about your planned lemonade stand project and the charity you want to help. Have your parent or guardian submit the request, and always have an adult with you while you are selling your lemonade. While supplies last, the stands will be sent to kids. There also are some cool downloads for signs for your stand on the Web site. So get busy.
