Student exits School Board race

One of three candidates in the election to fill outgoing Pasco County School Board member Pam Coulter's seat has dropped out of the race.

Michael Hagerman, 26, a political newcomer living in New Port Richey, said he withdrew from the District 4 election because of time constraints.

"I'm a full-time student, have full-time work and full-time family," he said Tuesday.

Hagerman did not rule out future political candidacy. Two candidates remain: Kathryn Starkey, 46, and Daniel "Woody" Wodstrchill, 61, both of New Port Richey. District 4 covers the middle of west Pasco. School Board races are nonpartisan and will appear on the Aug. 31 ballot.

Board members live in the districts they represent, but they are elected countywide.
