TAMPA - Douglas Melvin Rogers, wanted on burglary and sexual battery charges, turned himself in at Orient Road jail at 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to information released Thursday by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators had secured a warrant for Rogers' arrest following a report that a 20-year-old woman was hit in the face and sexually battered by a man who broke into her house at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Rogers, of 7822 Capwood Ave. in Temple Terrace, is being held without bail. Jail and state criminal records show he has been arrested seven times in the past seven years, on charges ranging from cocaine possession to aggravated battery on a pregnant woman.

In the earlier cases that have been adjudicated, Rogers was sentenced to a total of four years' probation.
