Military news

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class James C. Rhyne III, husband of Marlene Rhyne of Clearwater, and son of Theanne L. Crossett of Clearwater and James C. Rhyne Jr. of Suffolk, Va., recently deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom while assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14, based in Jacksonville. He served in the Navy on active duty from 1983 to 1988 and joined the Navy Seabee Reserves in July 1996. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where he participated in ROTC and the military band and earned a bachelor's degree in history. Before his deployment, he was pursuing a master's degree in library science at the University of South Florida.

Marine Corps Pvt. Tina D. Cabri, daughter of Marilyn R. Herrick of Clearwater and Mark R. Cabri of Clearwater, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Cabri is a 2003 graduate of Dunedin High School.
