By MARC TOPKIN
Published May 23, 2004

QUESTION: What were the first English words you learned when you came from Cuba?

BAEZ: I can't tell you the first words. But second was, "What's up?"

QUESTION: What foods do you like the most, and least?

BAEZ: My favorite American food is steak. Least favorite? I've tried Mexican food, it's too spicy.

QUESTION: What was your first car?

BAEZ: My first car was a Mercedes, after I came over. My car in Cuba was a bike, two horsepower each side.

QUESTION: Favorite late-night snack?

BAEZ: Ice cream. I love ice cream, vanilla and chocolate.

QUESTION: How did you meet your wife, Mireya?

BAEZ: She's my best friend's cousin, and she came back to Cuba to visit her family, I went over to their house and she was there.
