Former University of Tampa associate dean returning

By KRIS HUNDLEY
Published May 24, 2004

After two years as head of Jacksonville University's Davis College of Business, William Rhey is returning to the University of Tampa.

Rhey had been associate dean of the John H. Sykes College of Business and a professor of marketing at the private Tampa school before heading to the east coast in mid 2002. He returns as associate dean of graduate programs, starting July 1. In that position, Rhey will be responsible for graduate programs in nursing, business administration, technology and innovative management.

Rhey did not return a call seeking comment but a spokesman for Jacksonville University said he made the decision to leave on his own. Rhey had been on a two-year contract with the private school.

Calls to the University of Tampa were not returned.

Rhey leaves at a time when the Jacksonville business school is in the midst of expansion and seeking accreditation. The business college is named after the Davis family, founders of the Winn-Dixie supermarket chain, which donated $20-million for a new building scheduled to open in 2005.
