Want a slice of high gas prices?

Does the high price of gas have you thinking you want to cash in on the action by owning a gas station?

Then you're in luck.

Sunoco is auctioning 48 gas stations/convenience stores in Florida, Georgia and North and South Carolina by sealed bid on June 25. Eight of the stores are in the Tampa Bay area.

If you don't have a clue how to go about bidding for a gas station, you're also in luck. NRC Realty Advisors, which is managing the sale, is running a how-to-bid seminar in Orlando on June 8. Details are available at the realty's Web site (www.nrc.com)

Business brokers say demand is strong for gas stations. Price varies considerably depending on whether real estate is included.

Before the recent gas price spike, most stations in the area have averaged sales of $1.6-million a year. But as everyone knows, unless people change their driving habits, that cost could well be going up.
