HERNANDO BEACH - Starting today, Hernando County Parks Department will be replacing the floating docks at the Hernando Beach Boat Ramp on Calienta Street.
Two ramps will remain open at all times. However, the public is advised to use caution in construction areas. For information, call the Parks/Waterways Maintenance Department at 754-4154.
Wear your seat belt or risk getting ticket
The Hernando County Sheriff's Office will be participating in the Buckle Up Florida's "Click It or Ticket It" safety belt enforcement wave for the Memorial Day holiday.
From now until June 6, deputies will be performing vehicle checks along the following roads in Hernando County:
Fort Dade Avenue, Citrus Way, U.S. 41, Lake Lindsey Road, Cortez Boulevard, Nightwalker Road, Sunshine Grove Road, Centralia Road, Waterfall Drive, Faith Court, Elgin Boulevard, Harbinger Road, Forest Oaks Boulevard, Forest Villa Circle, Sealawn Drive, Key Drive, Landover Boulevard, Sheffield Road, Pinehurst Drive, Camden Street, Cobblestone Drive, Brierdale Street, Coronado Drive, Fish Cove Drive, Tanner Road, Dunkirk Road, Stephanie Drive, Powell Road, California Street, Spring Lake Highway and Old Spring Lake Highway.
Florida's safety belt law says all front seat passengers must be buckled up, regardless of age. Children under 6 years old must be properly restrained: age 3 and younger must be in a child safety seat, and ages 4 and 5 must be in a safety seat or safety belt. Drivers are responsible for any passengers younger than 18 who are not buckled.

Recycling bins removed from Springstead High
SPRING HILL - At the request of Springstead High School, Hernando County Solid Waste and Recycling Division has removed the recycling dropoff containers from the school property, 3300 Mariner Blvd.
The nearest recycling dropoff location to that address is the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 13300 Cortez Blvd. For information, call Recycling Coordinator Jim Cargill at 754-4112, ext. 119.
