The facilities crew at the St. Pete Times Forum has a hat trick of its own to pull off this week, converting the place overnight from hockey arena Saturday to football stadium for the Tampa Bay Storm game Sunday night. Then back again to a hockey arena for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals Tuesday. Then back again for graduations on Wednesday and Friday, with Game 2 in between.

Times photo technology director Jack Rowland thought you might be interested in seeing how the conversion looks, so he set up a camera in the catwalk of the Times Forum and timed it to shoot a picture every 10 seconds. The camera started shooting at 8:48 p.m. Saturday between periods 2 and 3 of the hockey game. It stopped at 11 a.m. Sunday, as the fifth annual Tampa Bay Storm cheerleading clinic for girls was wrapping up. Over the course of those 13 hours, 5,114 images were recorded and downloaded onto the hard drive of a laptop. Rowland then used a script to resize the photos so he could convert them into a time-lapse movie of the individual images, a process that took five hours.
