ST. PETERSBURG - A St. Petersburg man was shot in the foot early Saturday while fleeing from a would-be armed robber who confronted him in a bar parking lot.

Justin S. Cochran, 24, was going to his car outside Rookies Sports Cafe at 6931 Fourth St N, when two men approached him, St. Petersburg police say. One was carrying a small revolver. Cochran punched him in the face.

When the suspect fell to the ground, Cochran began running. At his car, he realized he had been shot and drove himself to Bayfront Medical Center.
