More than 1,000 lapped up Taste
BRANDON - The Brandon Chamber of Commerce is toasting a successful taste - the 17th annual "Taste of Brandon" event at the Florida State Fairgrounds on May 20.
More than 1,000 people attended the feeding frenzy, an increase of more than 40 percent from the previous year. The event drew 130 local restaurants and businesses as exhibitors, enticing residents to visit their booths with colorful displays, freebies and delicious smells.
"People really have become attached to this event, so holding it year after year has generated excitement," said Laura Simpson, the chamber's vice president for business and community development.
For a $12 to $15 entrance ticket, patrons could enjoy more than a taste of Brandon. Many walked away with an entire meal - working their way from salads to plates of spicy barbecue ribs and pasta entrees, and finishing with fresh pastries and ice cream concoctions for dessert. Cheddar's Casual Cafe won the annual contest for the Best Taste of Brandon.
