I Live Here

Sun City Center

Heaven on earth. That's how I describe our retirement at Kings Point in Sun City Center. Our lifestyle here is much better than we ever dreamed it would be. Paradise is the best description for the lush, manicured landscape and the abundant wildlife, such as sandhill cranes, geckos, turtles and the occasional alligator.

Kings Point has activities for every interest and hobby. I particularly enjoy the synchronized swimming and tap dancing. I am an active member of a dance group, the Silver Tappers, which participates in an annual grand finale show, The Follies. My husband especially enjoys the woodworking shop.

Whether you just relax and enjoy the resort-type clubs with indoor and outdoor pools or partake in the challenging exercise and fitness programs, there is literally no limit to the activities available. It's amazing to watch the energy level displayed in a kick boxing, weightlifting or stepping class of senior citizens.

Every day seems to be filled with new activities and adventure.

Kings Point is nestled in the middle of all the cultural areas of Central Florida. The major problem is that there is not enough time to enjoy everything.

Our seven years of retirement also have included time spent at the gulf beaches, making memories with many new friends, planting tropical plants and raising two parrots, a novelty for a former Illinois resident. As a major bonus, in December, my neighbor and I won first prize in the Decorated Holiday Golf Cart Parade.

If I had to include any complaints about retirement in Kings Point, I can only say that the days are too short, and the fire ant population is too large.
