TAMPA - Former City Attorney Fred Karl, along with four other appointees, will serve on Tampa's new ethics commission.
The five-member board will administer the city ethics code and offer opinions on ethical issues involving city employees and officials.
The board members were appointed by a variety of sources. Hillsborough Chief Judge Manuel Menendez appointed two members. The president of the University of South Florida, the dean of Stetson University College of Law and Mayor Pam Iorio appointed one member each.
Menendez's picks were Ronald K. Cacciatore, a well-known Tampa criminal defense lawyer, and Karl.
The other appointees are Lynn Cole, an adjunct law professor and former federal prosecutor; Dr. John Belohlavek, a USF history professor; and Marion Rodgers, a former Hillsborough School Board member.
The commission will hold its first meeting next month.
