TAMPA - Former Chief Assistant City Attorney Gina Grimes wants another shot at advising the city on legal matters.
Grimes wrote a letter to City Council member Rose Ferlita, asking for support to become the legal aide for the city's Barrio Latino Commission. The commission oversees architectural plans in Ybor City.
Grimes did not return a phone call Thursday seeking comment.
Ferlita asked the council to prepare a resolution accepting Grimes's application and appointing her as legal adviser to the commission. Council members gave Grimes their full support, but they have not hired her yet. Grimes announced her retirement with the city in February. Among her duties, she had served as legal adviser to the City Council. Grimes now works as a senior associate for the Tampa law firm Hill, Ward & Henderson.
