PHILADELPHIA - Flyers goaltender Robert Esche is scheduled for surgery on his hip next week and will spend the next few months recovering, likely preventing him from playing for Team USA in the World Cup in August.

Team physician Peter DeLuca said Esche was having hip problems all year and an exam found a tear of the labrum. He is scheduled for surgery Tuesday in Pittsburgh.
