Palm Harbor American is off to a perfect start at the District 12 major baseball Tournament of Champions. Wednesday's 6-2 win over West Pinellas boosted Palm Harbor American into first place in Pool B with two games remaining in the opening round.

Home runs by Ben Sweat and James Petika accounted for the Palm Harbor runs. Casey Turgeon scattered two hits over six to earn the win. All three players, with Mike Tipton, were part of the Palm Harbor National team that won the Tournament of Champions last season.

East Lake and Safety Harbor National also improved to 2-0.

On Tuesday, Palm Harbor American opened the tournament by defeating Countryside 6-2. Logan McCormack and Joe See combined for three Palm Harbor doubles.

MINOR SOFTBALL: Northeast No. 1 defeated Baypoint 12-9 to begin the District 5 TOC. Haley Brown pitched a complete game for the win. Brown also hit two home runs and drove in five runs.
