Safety Harbor American handed Palm Harbor American its first loss of the District 12 major baseball tournament 8-5 Thursday. Orlando Merced's three-run homer broke a tie at 5 and helped Brian Perconti earn the win. Tyler Harriman pitched three hitless innings for the save.

Last year's District 5 finalists Northeast and Seminole advanced. Defending champ Seminole blew out Meadowlawn 11-1, and Northeast beat Gulfport 4-0.

JUNIOR BASEBALL: Oldsmar became the first team to win two at the District 12 Tournament of Champions. Oldsmar edged Dunedin 10-9 and leads Pool A with two games left. Also in Pool A, Holiday defeated Hudson 5-1.
