Northeast wins with a no-hitter

Northeast advanced to the semifinal of the District 5 major baseball Tournament of Champions with an 11-0 win over Meadowlawn on Saturday. Bobby Punzack tossed a no-hitter with eight strikeouts for Northeast. Shawn Delmontagne supplied the offense with two hits and two runs.

In District 12, Tyler Harriman struck out the side and earned the save in Safety Harbor American's 10-8 win over West Pinellas. Chris Mackenzie pitched a complete game in Largo National's 5-2 win over Palm Harbor National.

JUNIOR BASEBALL: Pinellas Park National beat Gulf Beaches 9-1. Nick Hogston stuck out 10, and Michael Smith had five hits. SOFTBALL: Brittani Satcher struck out nine in Cross Bayou's 5-3 win over Northeast in the District 5 Senior A division. Taylor Stanley and Allison Shirley each had three hits. In the Senior B division, Baypoint's Renee Smallwood held Northeast to six hits in an 8-3 win. In minor softball Haley Brown had four hits as Northeast No. 1 defeated Gulfport 12-6.
