Josefa Gonzalez-Hastings, executive chef and owner of Habana Cafe in Gulfport, will be giving cooking demonstrations and signing her new cookbook at various locations this summer.
The Habana Cafe Cookbook (University Press of Florida, $19.95) is a celebration of the author's Cuban heritage and the popular restaurant she opened in 1997. The book includes about 125 recipes, including one for Cream Cheese Flan that won Gonzalez-Hastings $10,000 in the Southern Living Cookoff last year. The photographs in the books were taken by Jennifer Holcombe of St. Petersburg.
