Hibiscus blooms nearly year-round, though its delicate flowers seldom last more than a day. Hibiscus aficionados take pleasure in producing blooms of exquisite color and size and in hybridizing new varieties.

The annual judged show and sale by the Sunset Chapter of the American Hibiscus Society the primary hibiscus lovers organization on Florida's west coast is a wonderful place to see the flowers and learn more. The show is free and takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Pinellas Cooperative Extension Service and Florida Botanical Gardens, 12175 125th St. N, Largo.
