TAMPA - With left tackle Roman Oben traded to the Chargers and Derrick Deese established as the starter, the Bucs now turn their attention to finding a competent backup.
And someone like Kenyatta Walker, who has played there before, might be in better standing.
Walker, rumored to be among those released or traded before training camp, has an improved chance to re-establish his status as a first-round pick.
"Right now I'm just concentrating on right tackle," Walker said Wednesday. "That's all I'm worried about, playing right tackle and getting on the field and doing my best."
Walker said he is using the offseason workouts to get his details down.
"I'm fine," he said. "The (workouts) have gotten me sharper. It's my second year in the offense so with me it's details. I've got to be very detailed and know the situation and the downs."
And what of all the talk of his departure?
"I think I'm a good topic, for bad or good reasons," he said. "Someone always wants to pick up the paper and read about what I'm doing."
LIGHTNING PROPS: There are a lot of Lightning fans at One Buc Place and the list includes coach Jon Gruden and executive vice president Bryan Glazer.
"What they went through, being down 2-1 in Canada, tying the series, falling behind, being written off by a lot of people, going back to that place and winning again, it's awesome, man," Gruden said. "I lost a lot of sleep with these Lightning guys. ... These are not only physically tough and gifted skaters, these are mentally tough dudes."
Glazer praised the Lightning players and front office for their commitment and success and for what they have brought to the community.
"It's a wonderful thing," Glazer said. "It's been a long time for the community to have won a championship and we were proud to have done that a couple years ago and now to have it done again, it's good to have a confident feeling in the community. It's a winning area."
