VALRICO - Sure, winning the Stanley Cup was nice.
But Tampa Bay Lightning Coach John Tortorella may have more recognition on his way from his neighbors in Valrico.
Tortorella's neighborhood, Twin Lakes of Brandon off Bloomingdale Avenue, has rallied around their favorite son in recent weeks, festooning the gates and entry station with "Go Bolts!" signs and blue and silver ribbons.
Troy Ligon, treasurer of the Twin Lakes of Brandon Homeowners Association, said his neighbors thought about throwing a block party when the Bolts won the Cup on Monday night.
"We figured the coach was probably tired enough when he got home," said Ligon, who lives eight houses from Tortorella. "He didn't need a whole lot of hoopla here to keep him occupied."
Ligon said the community will try to recognize Tortorella and his wife, Christine, during its annual Fourth of July festivities, which are currently in the planning stages.
If they're nice, maybe the coach will bring his favorite new chunk of silver hardware.
"One of our board members did jokingly reply that we would have to lean on John to bring it out for us," Ligon laughed. "But we don't know if that's a possibility or not."
