WASHINGTON - President Bush will visit Tampa on Wednesday to deliver a speech to military personnel, the White House announced.
Details of the visit were still being worked out Friday, but the tentative plan called for Bush to give the speech at MacDill Air Force Base, home of Central Command. He is expected to talk about the war on terror.
It's likely that the public will not be invited - the audience will be limited to CentCom personnel.
Officials at MacDill said they had no information about the visit.
Tentative plans called for a relatively quick visit, so Bush was not expected to have any other political events in the Tampa Bay area.
This will be Bush's 22nd visit to Florida since he became president.
The state remains a key battleground in the presidential campaign, but the trip is being arranged and paid for by the White House because it is not considered a political event.
