TAMPA - A 33-year-old woman suspected of breaking into an E Frierson home early Saturday was shot and killed by the homeowner, police said.

At 5:50 a.m., Rebecca Brown, 63, heard noises coming from a room inside her home. Brown opened a door and saw Latanza A. Williams, trying to enter the house, police said.

Brown fired one shot, striking Williams in the upper chest. Williams, who also lived on E Frierson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges were filed Saturday.
