Go to Minneapolis for guidance on Mahaffey

Published June 13, 2004

Re: City weighs expense of maintaining Mahaffey, April 28.

Please, please, City Council: Go to Minneapolis and look at the Walker Art Center/Guthrie Theater/Sculpture Gardens complex.

The Guthrie Theater (a repertory company with which our American Stage group can easily compete) is a marvelous theater in the round, housed in the same building with the Walker Arts Center, a large, modern art museum (our Dali Museum would love to move in with a regional repertory theater). Both have been successful for years. After the two were in existence for a long time, they added the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden next door.
