Woman who threw toddler from car returns to Florida

STUART - A Palm Beach County woman who once threw her 2-year-old son out of a moving car and left a halfway house in March was found in New Jersey and returned to Florida.

Kris Haddad, 37, was returned Friday to the Martin County jail. She was picked up in New Jersey last month after leaving the Riviera Beach halfway house.

Haddad was declared not guilty by reason of insanity of attempted murder and aggravated child abuse charges after psychologists said she was experiencing a psychotic episode when she threw her son out of the car window on Interstate 95 near Hobe Sound in 1998.

She was placed in a secure mental health treatment center but later was allowed to live in a halfway house. She stopped taking her anti-psychotic medication when she disappeared, officials said.
