PLANT CITY - A man was killed when he came into contact with a downed power line after crashing a semitrailer truck tractor into a power pole Monday night.

Emergency workers from Hillsborough County and Plant City responded to the accident about 6 p.m. at 2706 Turkey Creek Road.

The truck burst into flames after the crash, forcing the driver out, but he was killed when he came in contact with the power lines knocked down in the accident, officials said.

His identity was not released Monday night.
