NEW YORK - Hall of Famer Hank Aaron fears the racism and intolerance that plagued his pursuit of Babe Ruth's home run record 30 years ago likely will emerge again as Giants slugger Barry Bonds draws closer to Aaron's milestone 755.

"It's just the nature of the business," Aaron said Monday. "They did it to me. They did it to Roger Maris. The only person who escaped it was Mickey Mantle."

ALL-STAR VOTING: The Astros' Adam Everett retook the lead among NL shortstops in fan voting for the July 13 game at Houston. Everett (625,055) passed St. Louis' Edgar Renteria (545,697) in the closest race at any position.

DEAL COMPLETED: The Yankees sent Triple-A infielder Brian Myrow to the Dodgers to complete the May 15 trade that sent former Devil Rays right-hander Tanyon Sturtze to New York. Also, Yankees reliever Steve Karsay canceled a scheduled rehabilitation start in Clearwater after he felt discomfort while warming up.

ANGELS: First baseman Darin Erstad was activated, and Gold Glove catcher Bengie Molina went on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left calf.

ASTROS: Shortstop Everett left in the first after he strained his left hamstring while running out an infield single. He is day to day.

BLUE JAYS: Radio announcer Tom Cheek had surgery on his 65th birthday Sunday to remove a brain tumor and will need further treatment.

RANGERS: Outfielder Laynce Nix went on the DL a day after he sprained his right shoulder running into the wall. Former Rays outfielder Jason Conti was called up from Triple A.
