Gulf Beaches ends long wait

The Tournament of Champions came to a close on Tuesday with two junior baseball titles up for grabs.

Gulf Beaches won its first District 5 TOC title in 54 years by completing a two-game sweep of Northeast 7-4. Stephen Corry collected three hits and tossed a complete game. Liam McWilliams, Joey Larose, Patrick Eckelbarger, Chase McWilliams and Michael Benner all had multiple hits for Gulf Beaches. On Monday, Joey Larose drove in the winning run as Gulf Beaches defeated Northeast 8-7 to reach the final.

Countryside defeated West Pasco 4-2 Tuesday to claim the District 12 title. Both teams entered undefeated.

SENIOR B SOFTBALL: Northwest won its first TOC title by defeating Baypoint 10-3 on Monday. Amanda Kionick had a key triple to setup a five run Northwest rally. Amanda Walters tossed a complete game for the win.
