JOE BLACKThe Hudson resident told a deputy he broke into the shops because "things had been going bad for him," the arrest report says.
SPRING HILL - A Hudson man was arrested early Monday after sheriff's deputies accused him of breaking into three businesses along Spring Hill Drive and stealing $158.55 in cash.
Kevin Doyle, 39, was charged with three counts of commercial burglary in connection with break-ins at El Morro Cuban Sandwich Shop, California Nails and Divine Dimensions at Maribel's. He was released on $15,000 bail.
According to the sheriff's arrest report, deputies responded to a call at El Morro, where they met a friend of Doyle. She told deputies Doyle became upset after drinking at Scores Bar and left. Later, she saw him leave the area near El Morro, which had been broken into, according to sheriff's reports.
A deputy then reported that he met with Doyle in Scores soon afterward. During a short conversation, Doyle denied being the suspect "Kevin."
When a deputy met with Doyle a second time, the suspect told the deputy he had no weapon but that he had stolen money, according to the report. Doyle told the deputy he broke into the businesses because "things had been going bad for him," the report stated.
El Morro's east glass entrance door was shattered. The front door of California Nails was broken by concrete blocks, and the cash register was open and in disarray, the report said. The front door of Divine Dimensions reportedly was broken by a 4-by-4 plank found near the door, and $40 was stolen.
