Can we all chip in to pay for Ben Stiller to take a vacation? Seldom has an actor worked so hard with such diminishing returns for moviegoers. This year alone we've endured Along Came Polly (although co-star Hank Azaria was funny), the lame Starsky and Hutch remake (but the car was cool) and the excremental Envy (at least the theater didn't catch fire during the screening).
Now Stiller is back with Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and I'm checking out travel agents for him. He plays vain fitness guru White Goodman, who attempts to take over a local gym used by guys who were always picked last in recess games. Vince Vaughn (Old School) plays Peter LaFleur, leader of a ragtag team trying to save their gym by winning a dodgeball tournament in Las Vegas.
Go ahead, Ben, take some time off. We deserve it.
(Dodgeball did not screen in time for a Weekend review; a full review will appear on Friday's 2B.)
