HUDSON - A Hudson man accused of grabbing a 7-year-old boy around the throat faces a charge of child abuse, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported.

According to the report, John William Chmura, 43, had been drinking beer all day Tuesday before growing angry at the boy, whose name was withheld by the Sheriff's Office, about 10 p.m. Witnesses told sheriff's deputies that Chmura grabbed the boy "violently" with both hands until another adult pulled Chmura away. Chmura told deputies he was disciplining the boy.

Chmura, of 10737 Kim Lane, remained at the county jail in Land O'Lakes on Wednesday evening on $2,500 bail.
