The folks at Busch Gardens know that those of us who live here year-round don't like to venture out in the heat of a summer day, even if it is to ride a roller coaster.

For us - and the tourists, too - the theme park has introduced Summer Nights, which runs daily through Aug. 1, with special entertainment from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Most rides remain open late, too.

The entertainment added just for the summer promotion includes Jammin', above, a contemporary percussion show on an outdoor stage; Taganai, a show with both circus and theater performances, including contortionists, gymnasts, aerialists and dancers at the Stanleyville Theater; and Burn the Floor, a dance show combining ballroom dancing with Latin rhythms in the Desert Grill.

There are also a tribute to Elvis, a Cuban band, stiltwalkers and street performers.

The summer shows are included in regular admission $53.95 adult, $44.95 ages 3-9 or with an annual pass. Busch Gardens is at the corner of Busch Boulevard and 40th Street, Tampa. Toll-free 1-800-372-1797; or www.buschgardens.com
