Man sought in five bank robberies

BRANDON - The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who may be responsible for five bank robberies during June in the Brandon area.

The latest robbery occurred about 4:05 p.m. Friday at Gulf Coast Shared Services, 710 Oakfield Drive. A man walked up to a bank teller and handed over a note that demanded money, sheriff's officials said. The teller gave the man the money, and the man ran.

The suspect is described as a white man, 35 to 45 years old, 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8, 150 to 160 pounds, with a small build and a tan complexion. During Friday's robbery, he wore light blue jeans, a light blue button-up shirt, a blue baseball cap and white Reebok tennis shoes.

The man is a suspect in four other bank robberies: June 1 at Wachovia Bank, 510 Oakfield Drive, Brandon; June 15 at Valrico State Bank, 102 Robertson St., Brandon; June 16 at Bank of America, 300 S. Parsons Ave., Brandon; and June 18 at Bank of America, 3414 Bell Shoals Road, Valrico.
