Here's a look at new businesses in the area:

HELP FOR CAREGIVERS: Alafia Adult Day Care Center opened in early May at 1006 Hallwood Loop in Brandon. The center provides respite for caregivers with a nurse on staff, assistance with medication, comfortable accommodations and games and recreational activities. It is a member of the Florida Adult Day Care Association and accepts wheelchair, oxygen and Alzheimer's patients for visits of four hours or longer. Hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 655-3003 for appointment.

ON THE MOVE: The Comic Club Inc. has moved to 714 W Lumsden Road, Brandon, in La Viva Shopping Center. The shop, which opened in Brandon in 2001, sells comics and a variety of games. As a grand opening promotion, free comic books and grab bags will be given away to the first 50 customers from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 3. Super heroes will be in costume from noon to 2 p.m. to greet visitors. The store is open noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Call 653-4111. ART RECEPTION: To celebrate this month's opening, the Gugliotta Studio/Gallery will have a reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday. The gallery is at 1312 Apollo Beach Blvd., Suite J. American Fish, a combination of fishy works in mixed media by artist Diane Gugliotta and other artists, will be on display. The gallery features an eclectic mix of the owner's works, media by guest artists, collectables, books and design aids including a custom framing corner. Gugliotta has more than 250 show awards to her credit; she has also lectured and taught on art themes at the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg and the Gulf Coast Museum in Belleair. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Call 645-8433.
