Gary Chapman, Riverview

Chapman, 33, helped win the Round Robin Mixed Doubles Tournament, Memorial Day Weekend at the Brandon Swim and Tennis Club. Chapman and his partner, Linn Schleif, were undefeated in seven matches, scoring 105 points to capture the tournament title. Gary has been playing 15 years, his dad and son also play. When not working or playing tennis, Chapman enjoys scuba diving, golfing and skiing.

Connie Fleming, Bloomingdale

Fleming, 18, a 2004 Bloomingdale High graduate, recently won the Sunshine State Games in the Young Women's discus competition, with a throw of 118 feet. She placed sixth in the Class 6A high school state tournament last spring in the same event. She was also third in the javelin throw in the Sunshine State Games. Her 5.5 weighted GPA helped earn her an academic scholarship to the University of South Florida where she plans to walk on to the Bulls' women's track team.

Linn Schleif, Brandon

Tennis

Schleif, 37, was part of the winning team Memorial Day weekend in the all-day Summer Round Robin Mixed Doubles Tournament at the Brandon Swim and Tennis Club. Schleif and her partner, Gary Chapman, went 7-0, accumulating 105 points in the victory. She has been playing the sport for six years, primarily for the great exercise and friendships.

The U-10 Gunners, Valrico Soccer Club's under 10 soccer team, finished second in the 2003 Space Coast Cup over the Memorial Day holiday at Cocoa Expo Sports Center in Cocoa Beach. After progressing to the semifinals by shutting out two of three teams, the Gunners beat the Belleair Blasts in a semifinal game that ended in a shoot out after regulation time. The Gunners surrendered to the Cutler Ridge Fury in the finals.
