LARGO - Two men accused in a series of auto burglaries in industrial parks in Largo have been sentenced for the crimes.
Brian K. Ferry Jr. and Jamison E. Clark, both 20, were arrested in December after a Pinellas County sheriff's sergeant caught them trying to break into a car. They wore rubber gloves and carried two-way radios, a police scanner and an assortment of tools, deputies said.
Their arrest halted a nearly three-month rash of auto break-ins in industrial parks in the area of Ulmerton and Starkey roads. More than 40 cars had been burglarized in that period. The pair took deputies to a storage facility where more than $5,000 in stolen stereo equipment, tools and jewelry were recovered.
Both men were charged with eight counts of burglary, grand theft and possession of burglary tools. Clark, of Seminole, pleaded guilty to the charges in June and was sentenced to two years of probation. Ferry, of Clearwater, pleaded no contest to the charges this week and was sentenced to one year in the Pinellas County Jail.
