Navy Fireman Eden Cheryl Bustin, daughter of Cherie Pattishall of Madiera Beach and Jim Bustin of Tampa, has graduated Navy basic training at the Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill., 107th Division. She is assigned to the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command. She is a 2003 graduate of Plant High School.
Air Force 2nd Lt. Matthew J. Raskie graduated with degrees in physics and French. He will report to Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. He is a 2000 graduate of Bartow High School and was class valedictorian of the international baccalaureate program. He is the son of Marty and Sue of Lakeland.
Col . Joseph Vincent Mottola III received a flag that was raised at a Baghdad Green Zone in honor of his service in the Marine Corps. Mottola of Tampa retired in 1960 after four years of service in the Marines. He is the 49th member of his family to have served in the Marines.
Midshipman Justin W. Heuer graduated June 21 from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. At the ceremony, Heuer received a deck merchant marine license and was awarded a bachelor of science degree. He was nominated to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy by Rep. Jim Davis. Heuer is the son of John W. and Maryellen of Tampa.
