TAMPA - A man accused in a Rhode Island slaying was arrested in Tampa early Friday at the home of relatives.

Providence, R.I., police got a warrant for Byron Johnson's arrest within a day of the July 27 killing, thought to be the result of a drug trafficking turf battle between Johnson and Jose Trinidad. Witnesses told police Trinidad, a member of the Latin Kings gang, had a lengthy argument with Johnson hours before he was shot to death.

The Providence officers learned that Johnson was in Tampa. At 6 a.m. Friday, deputy U.S. Marshals and Tampa and Providence police officers went to 3106 E Chipco St., where they found Johnson hiding under a bed.
