CLEARWATER - Sheriff's deputies on Monday arrested a Sarasota man whom they accuse of sexually battering a woman in her east Clearwater home in February.
Scott Ross Haber, 26, a car salesman at Royal Old GMC of Sarasota, came to the home of the 54-year-old woman on Feb. 9 and demanded that she take off her clothes, according to police records. The woman told police that Haber beat her when she did not respond to his advances. She escaped after grabbing the man and pulling out a handgun, which scared Haber into leaving. He allegedly stole the woman's cell phone, deputies said.
Deputies arrested Haber by finding his address through cellular phone records. He had called the woman several times before going to her home, deputies said.
The woman went to Morton Plant Hospital for treatment for injuries sustained in the attack, and police interviewed her there. The woman told police she ran an escort service and advertised the service in several publications.
Haber remains in Pinellas County Jail on $25,000 bail.
