Authorities say man had knife at Dunedin High

DUNEDIN - Just days before a man was arrested on charges of bringing guns onto the campus of Largo High School, another man had been arrested on charges of trespassing on the grounds of Dunedin High School with a Swiss Army knife. Police reports indicate that Dunedin resident Andrew Peckens, 20, was warned to leave Dunedin High School on Aug. 4. He came back the next day, and officers then arrested him on trespassing charges.

Peckens violated his probation by being on the campus, and also brought a weapon on school grounds, authorities say. Officers seized the knife when they searched Peckens, and added the charges to his arrest. Peckens was booked into the Pinellas County Jail about 1 p.m. Aug. 5. He remains in the jail without bail.

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mac McMullen said that in their investigation, deputies learned that Peckens was a former student at Dunedin High. The man found with two guns at Largo this Tuesday was a Largo High alumnus.
